
Building and developing your team

An effective and efficient team is one where communications flow well, where people understand their contribution and the team direction, where members appreciate and celebrate the contribution of all team members and understand the value of diversity of thought.
For managers and leaders, a deeper understanding of self helps to gain a deeper undertanding and appreciation of all members of the team, their personal leadership and communication style and how successfully to navigate change, taking into account all the personalities within the team.
An integral part of this course is "putting the theory into practice". This is achieved using a number of small-group exercises. For one or more of these, we will work with the team leader / commissioner to identfy "live issues" for discussion, so the results of the day are even more valuable. Not only will the groups experience the exercise(s), but the leader will have potentially-valuable ideas and suggestions addressing an important issue.
As with all courses, we work with you to customise the delivery in terms of content, messaging and method to meet the needs of your people in the best way possible. Below are areas of content that are usually included, but the course can be modified to suit the needs of your people and the organisation:
- Gain an understanding of their own personality profile using the CORE Matrix
- Appreciate what they and others with a similar profile bring to the team (and life!)
- Step into other people's shoes - find out how other 'styles' communicate and think
- Discover what 'pushes their own buttons' and those of people with different styles
- Consider what a perfect team might look like
- Examine the current team and how it differs from the 'perfect team'
- Learn how to 'put the theory into practice' whilst doing an exercise based on a 'live' issue within the organisation
- Develop a plan for 'next steps' - how to improve team effectiveness, team communications, any management and leadership issues
